Hood Filters
Hood filters are required pieces of metal that are added to your kitchen’s exhaust system to adequately trap and contain excess amounts of grease. They’re needed for fire safety purposes and to keep a commercial kitchen operating smoothly. Hood filters come in various types of materials and shapes, dependent on your kitchen-specific needs. Hood filters are regulated by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and must be compliant with their standards to serve in a restaurant. If a restaurant does not have hood filters, they are not qualified to be in operation.
Types of Hood Filters The main types of hood filters available are stainless steel and aluminum. Aluminum is a lighter material and softer than stainless steel but is more cost-effective if you're on a budget. Different hood filters have different patterns or ridges that help trap the grease when exposed. The layers in the hood filters are intended to store grease without allowing it to easily drip and fall back onto the cooking surface. The ridges in the hood filters are similar to multilevel panels that are often cut-proof, so you aren't at risk for cutting yourself when attempting to quickly clean or wipe down. Some of our hood filters are more aesthetically appealing than others, making them desirable amongst clients who have open-facing kitchens, versus hidden ones. Ventilation Behind the hood, filters are the ventilation system that pulls allergens and bacteria in the air through the exhaust system and filters it outside. Often times, if your hood filters have not been cleaned in a long while, this can have an effect on the integrity of your ventilation and compromise its ability to work appropriately. Grease and other debris can become lodged or trapped in the ventilation system, blocking the passageway for air particles to pass through. To sustain quality air in the restaurant or commercial kitchen space, your ventilation system will need a clear passage, free from grease and debris. Fire Codes Fire codes are crucial to upholding when installing hood filters. If your hood filters are not NFPA approved, then they are not capable of meeting the fire codes set out by the NFPA which regulate fire safety inside commercial establishments, like restaurants. We only offer hood filters that are approved by the NFPA and have been tried and tested and are ready to filter and trap grease better than ever before. We help install hood filters with precision so you don’t have to worry if your new grease-trapping hood filters are safe or meet fire regulations. Maintenance Maintaining your hood filters is rather simple, as we’re here to do most of the work for you! As professional hood cleaners, we're able to set up scheduled cleanings on a bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis to clean your hood filters and change them out when it's needed. Your hood filters can be cleaned with a simple wipe down from time to time but will require a more thorough, deep-cleaning in order to keep them in prime condition and ensure that they adequately trap grease continually. We are the hood cleaning Fresno company to call for your hood filter needs. |
